slowly but surely
after more than a week of busy practices, they are slowly getting into form - or rather 'whipped' into form. lol.
today, some tried out their costume and had adjustments made. of course, there are alot of getting use to with greek robes. hmmm .... they all look kinda cute!
we're changing to 2nd gear!

working holidays

Act 1 Scene 7 starts off our holiday drama practices. the cast are usually more alert in the morning and they could withstand longer practices as compared to after school ones. even i am more focused.

1st practice
this afternoon marks the first practice. we started with act 1 scene 2. the cast involved seemed excited yet nervous. i would say they were all very teachable in a sense that they adapted well to my directing .
1st practices are always hard on the cast 'coz they have yet to know what to expect and are still unclear of their roles. come the repeated practice - there would be a vast difference.
i left the school hall this afternoon with a smile!

boys at workwe bid farewell to the parisian backdrop that had decorated our school hall for nearly a year.
today, en. adi with the help of some form 4 boys white washed the backdrop. in no time, the former scene was gone! erased but not forgotten....

once upon a time ......
hahaha....we had a training session yesterday focusing on some basic acting techniques. though it was brief we managed to cover some important skills. the challenge now would be for them to put these skills into practice.

the much awaited day finally arrived.
the form 6 audition went well with young hopefuls took turns to show their talents. the hall and art room were buzzing with action. feels good to see a whole array of emotions being portrayed - from nervousness to joy.
both ling and myself were initially worried with this year's smaller form 6 registration but our fears were quickly dispelled when the talents rolled in.
tonight i can sleep well 'coz we've completed the line up for the cast. and from now till the performances, i know what awaits me - surprises after surprises!YES ! Let's go!

what will tomorrow bring?
tomorrow i will get to meet the lower sixes and run the audition. we will need a pretty large group to participate as wardrobe assistants, make up assistants, artists, AVA team, stage crew, vocalists, cast and musicians.
i've printed the audition forms, requested for photographers etc.... am glad that the 6th form council will be there to help. sure need more help with different sections to handle.

welcome to the silent zone. usher in the exam season.
with the mid year exams underway, drama activities are put to a low gear. instead i find myself spending time preparing props, sets, costumes and settling paper work. one more week of tranquility.

pins and needles
" shall we try this ........ we can also use this material to ......no, no this ain't gonna last through all the nights ...... need to cut the cardboard ..... how about using black to match this colour....how do monsters look like ..... "some interesting and remarkable ideas came out while the wardrobe designers (saimah, foong and nor athika) sat together to discuss on the wardrobe and accessories.
hmm... i'm sure after the session, they will be busy thinking up even better ideas.
teachers are enthusiastic !!
